Farina Hashmi, UK


Dr Farina Hashmi is a Chemist and Podiatrist by first degree and has had over 20 years clinical experience in private and public health care sectors in the UK. She completed her PhD in Skin Biochemistry in 2004 at University College London, where she worked alongside physicians and scientists to explore the impact of diabetes on the mechanical and biochemical behaviour of foot skin. Her research interests include lower limb clinical dermatology, tissue viability and skin and soft tissue biomechanics, with a particular focus on translating research outcomes into the clinical setting. She currently holds a position as a lecturer in podiatry at the University of Salford and leads lower limb skin and soft tissue research within the Foot and Knee Research Group. She has been a co- and lead investigator on external funded projects worth approximately £1 Million, which has enabled her to work with clinicians and scientists across the UK. Farina has published in international academic journals and has contributed to national and international scientific and professional conferences.
